Acclaimed Australian singer/songwriter/performer Chris Fisher moved  to the North Coast of NSW in 1989 and became well known as a recording artist and through hundreds of performances throughout the region as a soloist and with various band line ups including ‘The Essentials’, ‘The Dreamcatchers’ and most recently ‘Monkey & the Fish’.  He has won eight North Coast Entertainment Industry Association Dolphin Awards for original compositions produced on three albums: “Progress” (1989), “Green Hearts” (1994) and in collaboration with Marcelle Townsend-Cross and others “In Cahoots” (2000).

Chris was born in Warrnambool Victoria but began his musical career 3000 km north at the Townsville Folk Club and music festivals and venues of Far North Queensland.  Chris’s diverse musical background spans more than 20 years and includes many return performances at Maleny/Woodford Folk Festival beginning 1989, two grand final appearances in Tamworth’s coveted ‘Star Maker’ quest, the Gympy Country music muster,  Port Fairy and  National Folk Festivals, study in contemporary music at Southern Cross University and commissioned works for TV doco’ soundtracks and conference theme songs.
